The capital of the country is Libreville and it is home to 0.7 million people. In the capital only coup was done by the military .
Gabon got independence from France in 1960.
It is the one of the Richest Country in Africa, it has been richest by supplying oil.

WHAT HAPPENED IN GABON?
A section of military decided to coup against the president of Gabon, in which they were unsuccessful .
They planned to coup against President in Libreville and capture important ministry offices and radio stations, so they can announce that military has take over the country an support the coup.
How did they failed?
Because the military officers which were loyal to President saved him and fired upon all the person involved in the coup.
Why coup was held?
When the person involved in coup were asked they said "This was done to restore democracy ".
But the point arises "Gabon is a multi-party Democratic country " .
When the involved persons were asked they said we agree that Gabon is a democracy, but only one family Bongo's Family is being ruling over Gabon for past 50 years.
And they also accused Bongo Family, that they are connected to USA, and they are exploiting the natural resources of Gabon.
As people were already angry because of only one family ruling over Gabon for past 50 years.
Then came another controversy.
After the 2016 , Presidenttial Election in Gabon, Ali Bongo won the election.
But a French Journalist, after a lot of research revealed that the Ali Bongo birth certificate is forged and he is originally a Nigerian, who was adopted by Omar Bongo during Biafra war.
This questioned Ali Bongo validation of his candidacy.
REACTIONS BY INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
The France and African Union strongly condemned the attempted coup and warned against any unconstitutional change.France also sent it's 300 soldiers for the protection of President Ali Bongo who will be returning to Africa soon .

Gabon Ministry said-:Gabon detains soldiers who declared coup attempt on state radio. TheGabonese government has said it has put down a coup attempt after a group of soldiers briefly took over state radio and broadcast a statement calling on people to “rise up” while the president, Ali Bongo, was in Morocco recovering from a stroke.
